What is Reiki?
Reiki (ray-key); is a Japanese form of energy work. Reiki promotes deep relaxation and releases blockages within the physical, mental, emotional bodies. Reiki can be used to help with meditation practices, spiritual growth, healing relationships, manifestation of goals, and activating the Divine healing power within all living beings.
Reiki can be performed remotely or in person. This is a very quiet session performed with the hands above or lightly holding the energy centers of the body. Each Reiki healing treatment is unique and deeply relaxing. All will have a different experience during a treatment. Some will feel heat, tingling or maybe nothing at all, the energy is working even though we may not be aware of it.
A treatment can feel like a warm glowing radiance that flows through the body. It is a very relaxing experience and some clients report the body feeling heavy as it relaxes and yet the spirit or emotions feeling light at the same time. A treatment will usually release negative feelings or thoughts leaving the client feeling more positive, light hearted and with feelings of well-being.

Reiki History
The modern system of Reiki was founded by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Buddhist monk born in 1860. Dr. Usui was a teacher at Doshisha, a Christian college in Kyoto, Japan. One day, his students asked him if he believed that Jesus could heal like the bible says, and when he replied that he did, they asked him to show them such a healing. Dr. Usui did not know how to heal in this way, so he set out on a quest to learn how.
Dr. Usui traveled through Japan, China, and Tibet, and even studied at the University of Chicago Divinity School, before eventually returning to Japan. But in all his study, he failed to learn the actual techniques to heal as Jesus. Determined to find a way, Dr. Usui climbed Mt. Kuriyamo and began a 21-day meditation and fast. At the end of his purification, he saw a great ball of light come at him from the sky. The light struck him in the forehead and knocked him unconscious, but on awakening, he saw millions of small glowing bubbles of energy all around him. Then, he was given a series of mysterious healing symbols that are now part of Reiki instruction. On the way back down the mountain, Usui healed himself of disease and then met a young sick girl, whom he also cured.
Dr. Usui began his healing work with the beggars in the slums of Kyoto. Before long, he realized that those he healed would return again and again for treatment of the same illnesses. He believed that many of those people held onto their diseases because their illness somehow served them as useful. People preferred to live being sick because they were provided for by others, got more attention, and for other psychological reasons. So Usui altered his treatments to include not only the physical body, but also the mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies as well. He also found that to do successful healings on the whole individual, he could not perform his treatments for free. Some form of monetary or energy exchange had to occur for the healing process to take root on all levels in the diseased person. Usui also discovered that by healing people on all levels of their being, those people suddenly gained the ability to heal others.
Dr. Usui organized what he had learned into an system of enlightenment and personal transformation he named "Reiki." It is a process of being connected to the universal life force energy through a Reiki attunement. His amazing system allows practitioners to heal themselves and others by laying on of hands and energy projection. This wonderful energy is so powerful and adaptable that you can use it for different purposes, including healing plants and animals, solving personal problems in everyday life, and achieving self-realization or divine consciousness.

Course Description
There are four levels to Reiki. I offer individual training only. This one-on-one training program will enable you to practice Reiki as part of a complete spiritual and human potential development that operates on all levels of existence (spiritual, mental, and physical). I do not offer group class training as I believe that each person learns at a different pace. This is a practical course with straight-forward information, and step-by-step descriptions.
Attunements are performed distantly and Instruction manual for each level is emailed to you shortly after. You can live anywhere in the world to receive Reiki training.

The first level is called Reiki I. The student is attuned to the Reiki energy and taught various hand positions and methods for administering Reiki on their self and others. This first level is about "plugging into" the Reiki energy and experiencing it directly. You will learn a few Reiki Symbols and their names, as well as how to draw and use them for specific conditions. You will learn about the body signals that offer the practitioner information that can help in communicating with others. Topics covered: History of Reiki, Attunements, Hand Positions, Self Treatment, Principles and Ethics, Short and Full treatment of others, and Reiki for animals, plants, and inanimate objects.
The second step is called Reiki II. The first 3 Reiki symbols and their use are taught. After this, the symbols can be used to increase the strength of the Reiki energy, deal with mental and emotional issues, and to send Reiki at a distance.The student concentrates on learning to draw and meditate Reiki symbols to access the energy for attunement and transformation. The training for Reiki Level 2 brings knowledge of Long Distance Healing, Scanning Techniques, and the Long Distance Symbols and their names, as well as how to draw and use them. Topics covered: Level 2 Attunement and Ethics, Working with Symbols, Working with Representation, and Visualization Techniques.
The third step is called Reiki III - Master level. The training for Reiki Level 3 brings you additional knowledge for Long Distance Healing, and Scanning Techniques. Topics covered: Master Attunement, Dai Ko myo (Mastery Symbol), Being a Reiki Master, Lineage, and Teaching Reiki to Others.
The student is taught how to give Reiki attunements and how to teach Reiki. I offer detailed documentation, ongoing support, and co-teaching of initial classes to guide and encourage the new Reiki teacher. This level requires the student to demonstrate skills at Reiki and the ability to teach others. The system of attunements and the symbols are reviewed, and new material on teahing others will be introduced. 
Additional Information
Reiki Treatments and Reiki Attunements can be done either IN PERSON or via LONG DISTANCE. Both are equally effective and can be life-changing experiences for those who receive them.
A list of my Clients who have received Reiki Treatments from me is readily available upon request. The same applies to Reiki Masters I have had the honor of attuning.
In much of the teachings that have come from the far east, "Master" has been a term that many have used to refer to someone who is an enlightened teacher.
However, in the title "Reiki Master", the term "Master" is essentially a representation of the Japanese word "Shihan" which is translated into English as "teacher".
